Show FLAGS HONORED RETURNED HEROES The flags on all federal and state buildings and installations were flown at half mast Friday in honor of World War II dead whose bodies arived in San Fran. Cisco first to arrive in the nation for reburial. The president ordered all federal installations to observe the traditional tra-ditional tribute and the governor extended the order to state offices. The rites will be observed again Oct 26 when bodies from the European Euro-pean theater arrive in New York. In addition, Fort Douglas will fire a 21-gun salute at noon on both days,. Capt. J. L. Moser, post provost marshal, said. The bodies will be transferred to locations selected by next of kin for burial immediately after their arrival, Capt. Moser said. In keeping with the solemnity of the occasion, the war department has directed an exception to its usual policy of not flying the flag at half mast on Sundays. Oct 26 falls on that day. |
