Show General Conference Dates Set Apr. 4, 5, 6 I lie first presidency and other general authorities of the Cliureh of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began detailed planning of the 118th annual general conference April 4. 5 and 6 in the tabernacle. ? Authorities announced these plans to date: 1. General sessions daily during the conference at 10 a. m. and 2 p. m. 2. A regular general priesthood church-wide meeting April 5 at 7 p. m. in the tabernacle. Invite Mission Heads . . . 3. All mission presidents from missions in the United States, Canada Can-ada and Mexico have been invited ence sessions are expected to be broadcast over various church-owned church-owned radio stations in Utah and Idaho. Slate Reunions . . . The customary long list of missionary mis-sionary reunions will be held during dur-ing the conference. President Smith, when he formally for-mally opens the conference, will devote some of his opening remarks re-marks on the 118th anniversary of the founding of the LDS faith by the Prophet Joseph Smith. Presentation of annual reports will be one of the major highlights of the conference, which will open on Sunday, something that not often happens. Another feature will be keynote addresses by George Albert Smith, church president, presi-dent, and his counselors, J. Reuben Reu-ben Clark, Jr., and David O. McKay. Mc-Kay. Members of the first presidency will speak on the opening day in view of the fact it will be Sunday and the attendance is expected to be the largest. Members from all over the United States will attend, the majority ma-jority coming from the intermoun-tain intermoun-tain country, the greatest representation repre-sentation from Utah. All confer- the conference. Prior to the conference con-ference and after it, members in wards, missions and branches will hold observances relative to the founding of the church. The annual religious conference will be preceded by a church auxiliary aux-iliary meeting, the two-day LDS Primary Ass'n sessions, Friday and Saturday, April 2 and 3, Mrs. Adele Cannon Howells, association president, said Friday. 3000 To Attend . . . Approximately 3000 stake and ward teachers and Primary officers offi-cers and other leaders will attend the conference which opens April 2 with a session at 9 a. m. in the Assembly As-sembly hall. "Workshop" meetings will follow at 10 a. m. and continue throughout the day. Harold B. Lee, an apostle, will address the initial session. |
