Show Society Large Crowd In Attendance At Gold-Green Ball Several hundred people attended attend-ed the annual Gold and Green ball Tuesday evening at Memorial hall. One of the largest events of its kind ever held here, the entire nrncrram uroo cunnoccful in pvprv 'paper on poetry enjoyed by club Mrs. Rea Straw gave an interesting inter-esting paper on Poetry at a meeting meet-ing of the Ladies Literary club last Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Birdella Bearnson. Mrs. Straw gave briefly the lives of noted poets of the various centuries centur-ies and played recordings of sonnets son-nets and other compositions by noted poets. Melba Smith of the Fourth ward was crowned queen of the ball, the honor being bestowed by President E. A. Strong of Kolob stake. Mrs. W. W. Clyde presented present-ed the ward queens with lovely handkerchiefs in the form of Valentines Val-entines and in one was placed the lucky number. The Fourth ward queen drew the lucky one and received the honor. The floor show was a beautiful part of the entertainment, with the dances presented in excellent manner. Lovely decorations, emphasizing the theme of "Sweetheart Ball", were predominant throughout the hall. hostess to nineteen club members. AVE DELMA CLUB AT NO-HOSTESS PARTY Members of the Ave Delma club were delightfully entertained on Thursday evening at luncheon and cards at Keeleys in Provo. It was a no-hostess party with twelve club members and one guest, Mrs. Inez Chader, in attendance. at-tendance. Prizes for the games were won by Mrs. Gwen Cutler, first Mrs. LaDean Henrichson, second, and Mrs. Inez Chader, third. S. T. CLUB MEMBERS ENTERTAINED JEUNE MERE CLUB HEARS PAPER Mrs. Earl Lundquist was hostess to members of the Jeune Mere club at an interesting meeting at her home last Thursday evening. Mrs. Erwin Sheffield gave a paper pa-per on Canada to feature the program pro-gram and in conclusion, a tasty lunch was served by the hostess. Twelve club members were in attendance. at-tendance. Members of the Social Twelve card club were entertained at the home of Mrs. Manilla Brown on Wednesday evening. Cards were the diversion, together with luncheon lun-cheon served after the first two games. Prizes for the games were won by Mrs. Hilda Grant and Mrs. Floss Phillips. Attending as guests were, Mrs. Doris Bird,- Mrs. Emma Em-ma Kennedy and Mrs. Cleo P. Heavener. MRS. FERN SENIOR ENTERTAINS CLUB Ad' Libitum club members were entertained at the home of Mrs. Fern Senior Monday evening. The group enjoyed a delicious luncheon served at small tables, each centered cen-tered with pretty Valentine decorations, deco-rations, and cards. Special guests at the party included, in-cluded, Mrs. Emma Rowland, Mrs. Mildred Holley and Mrs. Evelyn Jordon. The card prizes were awarded to Mrs. Holley and Mrs. Rowland. , - .,7 , lor's brother, Cpl. Jack Lee, who , is' home on leave from the South , Pacific, where he has been serving with the Marines. DINNERS HONOR FO ROBERT MENDENHALL FO Robert Mendenhall, who is spending a few days furlough here following his graduation and commission to Flight Officer at Hondo, Texas, has been honored with a number of social functions during the past few days. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall, entertained at a family fam-ily dinner at their home on Sunday Sun-day with the guests including Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bearnson, Billy Bearnson, Bearn-son, the guest of honor and other members of the family. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Salisbury also entertained at dinner at their home honoring Robert and their son, Lt. Joe Salisbury, who left the past week for Houston, Texas. CAMP KOLOB D. U. P. MEMBERS ENTERTAINED An interesting meeting of Camp Kolob D. U. P. was held at the home of Mrs. LaVella Frazier on Thursday afternoon, with Captain Sarah Weight in charge. 1 The program featured an ac-' cordion selection by Elma Curtis; the lesson "Rugged Men Of the West" by Mrs. Jeannette Ullock; a history of Joseph E. and Emma Taylor Hadf ield, given by a daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Mary Peterson. During the meeting, names were presented for officers candidates to be voted on at the next meeting. meet-ing.
