Show Chemical Co. Predicts Bigger Payroll According to the postwar plans 1 of St. Louis' Monsanto Chemical Co., the payroll after the war will be doubled in size. Monsanto, in line with American Ameri-can industry's recent pledge to i-n crease opportunity for all to earn and buy more after the war, has already gone about surveying markets mar-kets and developing new products so that when the green light comes on after victory, they'll be all set. This will mean an expenditure of some $50 million in new plants at least $15 mililon of it to be spent the first two years after the end of the war. Employment, which was 5,300 inn 1939, is expected ex-pected to provide jobs for 11,000. Explaining the situation to Monsanto Mon-santo employees, F. J. Curtis, vice-president vice-president in charge of postwar at Monsanto, says: "We have studied stud-ied all our long range products from the standpoint of our potential poten-tial sales . . . We have calculated how many jobs we think we can provide in the postwar period if these developments go through." |
