Show FOREST RANGERS REPORT ON SNOW SURVEYS Snow surveys on the Strawberry Strawber-ry snow course at the head of Daniel's canyon and Indian canyon can-yon snow course 'on the divide between be-tween Duchesne ' and Castle Gate have been completed by forest rangers of the Uintah national for- est, according to George C. Larson of Provo, supervisor. A divergence is shown between the two courses as the Indian canyon can-yon course is far below normal, while that at Strawberry is slightly slight-ly above normal, Supervisor Larson Lar-son states. The measurements were taken by Rangers A. F. Richards and Julian R. Thomas. On the Indian canyon course of 28 stations, the snow averaged 13 inches in depth with a water content con-tent of two inches as compared with 24.25 inches and a water content con-tent of 3.89 inches last year. The seven-year average is 18.48 inches of snow and 2.98 inches of water content. On the Strawberry course of 44 stations, the snow depth was 25.13 inches and 6.4 inches of water content con-tent as compared with 30 Inches and 5.18 inches of water content last year. The 19-year average is 24.39 inches and 4.73 inches water wa-ter content. The rangers report that the ground is not frozen under the snow and some melting is taking place near the ground, which is beneficial. |
