Show MRS. J. W. OLSEN, JR., WAS HONORED with a bridal shower on Friday evening, at the home of Mrs. Alice Davis, with Mrs. Lyle Childs and Myrtle Childs, assisting hostesses. The entertainment featured a review re-view of the book, "Kabloona." by Mrs. Mary Verl Maycock, followed follow-ed by a tasty lunch. Later the bride opened her many lovely gifts. Attending the party were Mrs. Doris Bird. EFFAN BEE CLUB MEMBERS WERE GUESTS of Mrs. Nola Palfreyman at her home on Thursday evening. The group enjoyed a delicious luncheon and sewed for the Red Cross. Attending the party were ten club members and Mrs. Billie Burt was a special guest. MRS. MARK BROWN ENTERTAINED THURSDAY at her home for members of the Al-Gu-Ween club. Progressive 500 featured the afternoon entertainment entertain-ment for which prizes were won by Mrs. Rena Crumb, Mrs. Vilate Howard and Mrs. Thelm'a Grone-man, Grone-man, all of Provo. Others present included Mrs. Leona Henrie, Mrs. Sadie Jones, Mrs. Phyllis Cooper, Mrs. Genevieve Gene-vieve Bailey, Mrs. Dora Clark, Mrs. Lily Singleton, Mrs. Louise Brown, all of Provo, Mrs. Afton Palfreyman and Mrs. Crystal Poulsen, of this city, the latter three being guests. At the close of the party, dinner din-ner was served at one long table employing a patriotic and Valentine Valen-tine color scheme. MRS. AGNES McKEE WAS HONORED with a surprise party on the occasion oc-casion of her birthday Monday evening, given by her children at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Clif-ford R. Taylor. ..The group enjoyed a delicious dinner and social conversation. Attending At-tending were Mrs. McKee, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor,. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence McKee, Mr. and Mrs. Bert McKee, Mr. and Mrs. Max McKee, and families. MRS. CARRIE JOLLEY WAS CLUB HOSTESS on Thursday evening at her home for members of the Ave Delma group. Mrs. Hortense Harwood and Mrs. Helen Robbins won prizes for the evening games of bridge. A delicious luncheon was served early in the evening to twelve club members and Mrs. Mary Sanford was a special guest. VELMA MENDENHALL WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT of the Provo Soroptimists club at a meeting Monday evening. She succeeds Mrs. Ina C. Brown. Installation In-stallation ceremonies were set for next Wednesday evening, with Salt Lake City members to join in the dinner-meeting. Miss Mendenhall is a child welfare wel-fare worker with the Utah county welfare department. Marriage Takes "Place At iManti Temple Announcement is made of the marriage of Loren A. Nielson, former for-mer bishop of Mapleton, and Mrs. Birdie Jackson of Sanford, Colo., which took place on Thursday, January 15, in the Manti temple. The couple are making their home at Mapleton. MR. AND MRS. DICK CONOVER WERE HONORED SATURDAY evening with a surprise party by a number of neighbors and friends at their home. The group enjoyed music and a delicious luncheon and also made several musical recordings during the evening. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Gottfredson, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Thorpe, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. THE JEUNE MERE CLUB HELD A PARTY on Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn, with husbands as special guests. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Cornell Cor-nell Clyde, Mrs. Frank Crandall, and Mrs. Russell Blackett. Progressive 500 was played and prizes in the form of defense savings stamps were awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Faye Jensen, first, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Haymond, Hay-mond, consolation. Others attending attend-ing in addition to the hostesses and their partners, were: ' Mr. and Mrs. Roy Despain, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Nielson, and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Palfreyman. CURRENT STUDY CLUB MEMBERS WERE GUESTS of Mattie Davis at a nicely arranged ar-ranged entertainment at the Edna Mae Hedquist home on Monday evening1. Dinner was served early at one long ' table, and later Howard Salisbury, in an interesting .manner, .man-ner, reviewed "The King's Henchmen," Hench-men," by Edna St. Vincent Millay. In attendance were Mrs. Arnold Mecham and -Mrs. Inez McDowell, guests, and Mrs. Melba Sumsion, Prudence Wride, Mrs. Ellen Sessions, Ses-sions, Elda Hansen, Mrs. Lillian McKenzie, Bertha and Fay Bearn-son, Bearn-son, Mrs. Rea Straw, Nell Matley, Faughn Nielson, Minerva Johnson, John-son, members. MR. AND MRS. M. F. MINER ENTERTAINED SATURDAY evening at their home, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Miner, at a family party complimenting Phyllis Phyl-lis Jensen, a granddaughter, prior to her departure for a mission. Mrs. Blanch Beal gave a 1 book review to feature the entertainment, entertain-ment, together with appropriate vocal selections by Mrs. Ellen Anderson. An-derson. Social conversation and a delicious luncheon were other enjoyable en-joyable features of the evening. The guest of honor was presented present-ed with many useful gifts from those assembled, numbering approximately ap-proximately 25 near relatives. A FIRESIDE CHAT WAS HELD SUNDAY evening after regular services by the M Men and Gleaners of the First ward M. I. A. A program featured the occasion with Mrs. Mary Bird entertaining with piano and accordian selections; selec-tions; Mrs. Ellen Erdmann, a reading, read-ing, and Elmo Curtis, instrumental selections. Concluding the program, refreshments re-freshments were served by Hostesses Hos-tesses RaNae Davis, Ina Sanford, and Thelma Graves. MRS. JACK EVANS WAS HOSTESS ON FRIDAY evening at the home of her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Francis Hazel, to members mem-bers of the Bonnie Thais club. Dinner was served early, the table being centered with an attractive at-tractive miniature scene created through the use of . pine trees, boats, and animals. Cream-colored tapers were on either side and cosmetics cos-metics were given as favors. Guests attending were Mrs. Frank Cranmer, Mrs. Kay Cran-mer Cran-mer and Mrs. Maurice Cranmer of Springville, and Mrs. Lynn Vest of Provo. Members were Mrs. Hazel Janson, Mrs. Elvin C.
