WITH THE U. S. ARMED FORCES Ammon U. Johnson, son of Mrs. Isabell Johnson of this city has been promoted from private first class, to sergeant, according to announcement an-nouncement by Colonel Byron T. Burt, commanding officer of Greiger Field, Spokane, Wash. A graduate of the local high school, Sergeant entered the service serv-ice in April 1941 and at present is a mess sergeant. The promotion of Sergeant Johnson is a recognition recogni-tion of his qualities of leadership, initiative and ability, according to Colonel Burt.
