Production of planes in the United States is estimated by Speaker Rayburn at 3,300 a month and other sources indicate that the president's goal of 60,000 planes in 19-12 will be met. Spectacular submarine campaigns have inflicted heavy losses upon the United Nations but this threat should be considerably diminished before the end of the present year. In connection with the shipping 1 1.3 the loss of Axis ships. Japan has suffered serious blows in the Far East. Italy has been painfully mauled in the Mediterranean and Germany has lost many ships in the waters of the North Atlantic. |
