Show Kmanis Garden Party Outstanding Social Event In afeautiful setting of shrubs and gorgeous summer flowers Kiwanians and their partners were ehtertained at a garden party Thursday night at "WB REAPERS' EXTERTAIXKO AT PROVO HOME Mrs. Preston Hashes was hostess hos-tess to members of "We Headers' Thursday nipht at the home of her mother, Mrs. Royal J. Murdock, in Provo. The book review which comprised compris-ed the evening's entertainment, was "My Son, My Son,' and was given by Mrs. Roe Thorn. In conclusion a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served to the following guests: Mrs. Maurice Bird, Mrs. Howard Thorpe. Mrs. Maurice Anderson, An-derson, Mrs. Howard Maycock, Mrs. Roy Strong, Mrs. Elmo Corf-man, Corf-man, Mrs. Roe Thorn, Mrs. Jas. Thorn, and the hostess. INFORMAL PARTY ENTERTAINS FRIENDS The Misses Shirley Mendenhall and Nedra Beal were co-hostesses at a nicely arranged party held Tuesday night at the home of the former. Following a delicious luncheon served at one long table centered with white rosebuds and blue delphinium, del-phinium, the girls enjoyed a lively live-ly discussion of current topics. Present were Carol Allan, Clara Bagley, Lucille Alleman, Elma Haymond, Marjorie Childs, Marie Sumsion, Myrle Cloward, and the hostesses. the home of President and Mrs. W. W. Clyde. A fire in the huge outdoor fireplace, augmented by colored lights, illuminated the gardens. Early in the evening a delicious chicken dinner was served from tables arranged about the gardens, gar-dens, with roses used as centerpieces. center-pieces. During the course of the dinner, music "was furnished from a turret balcony by Miss Ha Clyde playing the accordion. Other music and novelty numbers were given by the Springville trio, -composed of Dick Conover, Clarence Smith and Roe McCurdy, and by the Battle Creek Hill Billies of Pleasant Grove. After the dinner the group assembled as-sembled in the living room of the Clyde home, where . a mock wedding ceremony -was enacted in special observance of the wedding anniversary of Mr., and Mrs. Carl Nelson, which occurred that day. Mrs. Nelson, attired in appropriate costume, descended the stairs to the strains of "Here Comes the Bride," and joined Mr. . Nelson. They were then reunited in matrimony matri-mony by Preacher W. W. Clyde. Other program numbers included includ-ed vocal solos by William Schrei-ner, Schrei-ner, Merle Sargent, and Carl Nelson, Nel-son, and a reading by Mrs. Wil-. Ham Schreiner. Guest prize for the evening was a beautiful crystal vase and was won by Mrs. Harrison Conover. W. R. Eddington was toastmas-ter toastmas-ter during the evening and President Pres-ident W. W. Clyde "was in charge. BUSY CIRCLE CLUB ENTERTAINED FRIDAY Mrs. Madge Allan and Mrs. Hattie Allan were hostesses to members of the Busy Circle club Friday, at their home. Sewing was the main feature of the afternoon, after which a delicious deli-cious lunch was served to the following fol-lowing members: Mrs. Elsie Childs, Mrs. Sylvan Allan, Mrs. Ada Lee, Mrs. Nell Bertlesen, Mrs. Blanche Nielson and the hostesses. The next meeting is scheduled to be held at the home of Mrs. Nell Bertlesen. SECOND WARD Y. W. M. I. A. REORGANIZED RECENTLY The Second ward Young Women's Wo-men's Mutual Improvement association asso-ciation woTk for the coming year will be under the direction of Mrs. MargaTet Miner, president; Mrs. Hazel Harrison and Mrs. Marie Ma-rie Alleman, counselors, and Miss Elaine Crandall, secretary. BRIDE HONORED AT SHOWER Complimentary-to Mrs. Leonard Brailsford, formerly Emogene Hone of Benjamin, a miscellaneous miscellan-eous shower was held at the home of Mrs. Leonard Hatfield in Mapleton, Ma-pleton, Wednesday evening. Approximately Ap-proximately twenty couples attended at-tended and enjoyed the time with the game "Bingo." Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Luella Holman of Vineyard, Jim Brailsford and Bishop A. Ray Ekins of Provo. Concluding the party a delicious deli-cious luncheon was served, the hostess being assisted by Mrs. George Brailsford. The young couple plan to make their home in Springville. |
