You can mix this inexpensive chocolate choco-late cake in a jiffy, for smooth, creamy Spry blends so quickly with your other ingredients. This all-vegetable all-vegetable shortening is so pure and bland, too, it lets the chocolate come through, rich and full-flavored. Just follow the easy recipe at the right and you'll be thrilled with the tender, ten-der, velvety cake you get. NUT BRITTLE SUNDAE SQUARES cup Spry 2 teaspoons bak- (triple-creamed intr powder shortening) teaspoon soda teaspoon salt 2 cups sifted 1 teaspoon vanilla flour 1 Vi cups sugar 1 cup milk 2 eRgs. unbeaten Vanilla ice 3 ounces chocolate, cream melted Crushed peanut pea-nut brittle Ijilend Spry, salt and vanilla. Add sugar gradually and cream well. Add eggs, singly, beating well after each addition. addi-tion. Add melted chocolate and blend well. Sift baking powder and soda with flour 3 times. Add flour to creamed mixture, alternately with milk, mixing after each addition until smooth. Bake in 14x9x2-inch Spry-greased pan in moderate oven (350F.) 35 minutes. Cut cake in 3-Inch squares, top with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream, and ' sprinkle with crushed peanut brittle. Serves 12. (All measurement in recipe are level) |
