Show Delphian Qharter Signing Qeremony Marked By Impressive Program Charming and impressive were the charter - signing ceremonies conducted by the Mt. Maple chapter chap-ter of the Delphian society in connection con-nection with a formal social Friday Fri-day evening at the home of Mrs. W. W. Clyde. President Catherine D. Wills was general chairman of the entertainment and in a short talk during the evening welcomed the members and guests, the latter lat-ter including a number of Delphian officials from out-of-town. The program began with piano accordian selections by Louise Clyde. Mrs. Charles Franks entertained enter-tained with a lovely vocal solo during dur-ing the evening, as did Mrs. Wills. Both were accompanied by Mrs. Belle Thomas. Mrs. M. R. Straw, seminar chairman of the society, gave an instructive and well arranged ar-ranged talk on the Delphian symbol. sym-bol. Mrs. F. R. Slopanskey of Salt Lake City, president of the state assembly, spoke on the value of membership in Delphian and told of accomplishments of the national na-tional organization. Short talks were also given by Mrs. L. W. Stringer of Salt Lake City, chairman chair-man of publicity; Mrs. B. G. Midgley of Ogden, vice-president; Mrs. P. L. Larsen, president of the Provo chapter, and Mrs. Edwin F. Erwin of Provo, chairman of the seminar board. Mrs. C. G. Salisbury Salis-bury had charge of the program. The charter - signing exercises were conducted by Mrs. W. W. Clyde, secretary, in connection with a candle-lighting ceremony. Emphasizing Em-phasizing the Delphian colors of gold and black, seventeen gold-colored gold-colored tapers burned in a black triangle base at the close of the exercises, while the chapter vice-president, vice-president, Mrs. F. V. Martin, presented pre-sented the charter to the secretary. Community singing of Delphian songs was led by Mrs. Earl Condie. In connection with the evening's program, a tasty luncheon was served buffet style. A gorgeous silver service, cut flowers and unique favors in black and gold added a note of charm to the affair. af-fair. Delphain members attending were Mrs. Catherine D. Wills, Mrs. F. V. Martin, Mrs. W. W. Clyde, Mrs. C. G. Salisbury, Mrs. M. R. Straw, Mrs. Earl Condie, Mrs. Charles Franks, Mrs. George A. Anderson, Mrs. Roy Despain, Mrs. W. R. Eddington, Mrs. J. W. Grant, Mrs. F. L. Graham, Mrs. G. Ray Hales, Mrs.. George Nelson, and Mrs. Gladys Nielson. Mrs. B. M. Mendenhall and Mrs. Mary Smart were unable to attend. Each member invited a guest, and these, in addition to the out-of-town visitors, included: Mrs. Rea Straw, Mrs. D. B. Welch, Mrs. Harold Christensen, Mrs. Bonspar, Mrs. Mary M. Oakes, Mrs. Wm. H. Brown, Mrs. Hugh Baxter, Mrs. Isabel Brown of Lehi, Mrs. Belle Thomas, Mrs. Lawrence Beach, Mrs. Mark Brown, Mrs. C. E. Eg-gertsen, Eg-gertsen, Mrs. Sylvester Allen, and Mrs. Holt. |
