Show NEW DRAFT AGE TO REGISTER ON FEBRUARY 16 America's Potential Military Manpower Will Be Determined By Registration C. G. Salisbury has been appointed appoint-ed chief of registration for the selective se-lective service in this city on Monday, Mon-day, February 16. The registration will take place at Memorial 'hall from 7 a. m. until 7 p. m., and will include male residents res-idents between the ages of 20 and 45 years, who were not eligible to register in the first two selective service registrations. The other two registrations included men 21 to 36 years. Mr. Salisbury announces that a number of volunteer registration agents will be needed for the service ser-vice on registration day and those desiring to assist are asked to contact con-tact him. Emphasizing that the Selective Service registration on February 16 will complete the registration of America's potential military manpower, Major H. A. Rich, state director of Selective Service, today pointed out that it affects every male resident in Utah between be-tween the military ages of 20 and 45 years, with a few exceptions made by congress. The requirement, Director Rich explained, is that all male persons not previously registered, who attained at-tained their twentieth birthday on or before December 31, 1941, and who have not attained their forty-fifth forty-fifth birthday on or before February Febru-ary 16, 1942, must register as of their home address between 7 a. m. and 9 p. m. on February 16. In other words, all unregistered men who were born between February 17, 1897, and December 31, 1921, must register. Men between 21 and 36 years of age who registered in 1940 and 1941 are not required to register again, the director states. While anyone who is unavoidably unavoid-ably away from his home on February Feb-ruary 16 may register at the registration regis-tration place most convenient on that day, Director Rich said, he urged all Utah registrants to make every effort to register with their own local boards to avoid possible confusion in the future. Any person per-son who must register while away from his home, he warned, should be careful to specify his home address ad-dress so that his registration card may be forwarded promptly to his own local board to insure that he will be included in its potential manpower to fill calls for quotas. |
