Show Road Officials Map New Program Nine Projects, Located Mostly In Defense Areas, Are Included In State Road Commission Program For 1942 A new 1942 road program designed to incorporate incorpor-ate defense needs and which will cost $1,676,000 for nine projects, has this week been submitted to the state road commission ror approv-' al. The program replaces a previous pre-vious one announced several weeks ago. . Of the amount to be expended, the government will furnish $1,-150,400. $1,-150,400. For the most part, the projects are located in defense areas. They are as follows: Between Riverdale and Death Curve, near Ogden, distance 2 miles, costing $470,000, to include construction of a bridge, relocation of highway and building of a railroad rail-road grade. Between Death curve and Lay-ton, Lay-ton, 9.9 miles, cost $310,000, to include in-clude widening of four lanes. Nye's corner, southwest of Ogden, Og-den, 2.5 miles of reconstruction, costing $228,000. Between Willard and Perry, 2.7 miles of widening, costing $160,-000. $160,-000. Between Orem and Provo, 2 miles of four-lane paving, costing $100,000. Scipio canyon, 4 miles of reconstruction, recon-struction, costing $150,000. Black ridge, between Cedar City and St. George, 5.5 miles of reconstruction, recon-struction, costing $270,000. Metween Nephi and Levan, 3 miles of reconstruction, costing $70,000. Cove Fort, Dog Valley, north of Cove Fort, 6.8 miles of oil surfacing surfac-ing on recently constructed road, to cost $18,000. According to John S. Evans, road commission chairman, the program is subject to further revision re-vision and it may be supplemented. |
