Armed Forces serving outside the continental limits Y SLtj of the United States. l ' 1 T3 TIME OF MAILING Christmas parcels and greeting cards ' JJ f should be mailed during the period beginning October 1 )v and ending November 1, 1942, the earlier the better. Each vXo package should be endorsed "Christmas Parcel." Special effort will be made for delivery in time for Christmas. )lV SIZE AND WEIGHT Christmas parcels shall not exceed 11 V7 pounds in weight or 18 inches in length or 42 inches in jhf length and girth combined. However, the public has been Jjry urged to cooperate by voluntarily restricting parcels to the sixe of an ordinary shoe box and the weight to six pounds. fUSE CARE IN PREPARATION Remembering the great distance this mail will be transported and the necessary storage and frequent handling, it is absolutely necessary that articles be packed in substantial boxes or containers and be covered with wrappers of sufficient strength to resist pressure of other mail. Af P0STAGE MUST BE FULLY PREPAID The rate on parcels of Ay fourth-class matter (exceeding eight ounces) being the zone )y rate applicable from the postoffice where mailed to the post- VfV ( office in the care of which parcels are addressed. Iff GREETING MESSAGES PERMISSIBLE Inscriptions such as "Merry Christmas". "Don't open until Christmas" and the like J&t may be placed on the covering of the parcel if it does not interfere with the address. Cards may be enclosed and )P f books may bear a simple dedicatory inscription. A ( INSURANCE AND REGISTRY Gifts of value should be insured.
