Show SCHOOL LUNCHES SCHEDULED TO BEGIN SOON Approximately 15,000 Cans Of Produce Now Available For Lunches Sponsored By P.-T. A. Approximately 15,000 cans of vegetables and fruits have been canned during the summer for school children's lunches this year, it was announced today by Mrs. Gertrude Clements, president of the Springville P.-T. A. council, sponsoring the lunch project. It is planned to begin lunches the first week in November. A large new stove has been purchased purchas-ed to facilitate the serving and parts for the new equipment will be installed by the latter part of the month. The lunch service proved especially espe-cially popular with students last year when as many as 600 were served in a single day. The charge for the lunches this year has been advanced to 10 cents to defray expense ex-pense of hiring helpers, WPA help being unavailable this year. The price of the lunch will include in-clude milk, according to present plans being worked out by officers offi-cers in charge. The lunch is also being increased. Much of the produce canned has been furnished by local growers, but a considerable amount was purchased and the funds derived .will be used to defray this expense. ex-pense. It is expected that at least 200 students will be started on the lunches and that this number will increase to '500 during the cold winter days. |
