Show CONFERENCE OF CLUBWOMEN HELD IN PROVO Thirty-Nine Clubs Of First Dist. Represented; Endorse Candidate For State President Mrs. Sterling Ercanbrack of Provo, vice-president of the -state Federation of Women's clubs, was endorsed for the position of state president, at a presidents' conference confer-ence in which thirty-nine clubs of the First district were represented. Saturday afternoon at Provo. The election will be held next May. The conference was in charge of Mrs. Harold Christensen of this city, president of the First district. dis-trict. During the afternoon, it was disclosed dis-closed that five girls in the district dis-trict which comprises clubs from Lehi on the north, to Nephi and including Heber, had been assisted with nurses' scholarships sponsored sponsor-ed by the clubs last year. American Fork and Nephi each have one ready, it was announced. Mrs. J. Erval Christensen, district dis-trict director, discussed the importance im-portance of federation work and gave a report on the recent state board meeting in Salt Lake City, during the afternoon. It was announced that the club project for this year is to buy a bomber, and that the club women of the nation plan to send a fleet of bombers to the front. Club women wom-en have also been called upon to sponsor the sale of war bonds In October, it was stated. , Mrs. Christensen urged that all clubs study juvenile delinquency problems confronting society at the present time, and in her talk she urged that the various clubs appoint a chairman to work with city and school officials in formulating formu-lating a plan to curb the prevalent crime wave. The conference was attended by district officers, district chairmen and club presidents from practically practical-ly every organization in the district. |
