Show LACK OF ROADS DELAYS WORK ON NEW PRISON Lack of road facilities for transporting trans-porting building materials to Utah's new prison site at the I'oint-ot-tlie-Mountaln is delaying construction of the first two units of the permanent prison buildings, It was learned Sunday. Paul Paulson, contractor for the two buildings, said he has been unable to do any work on them yet, although he Informed the state board of corrections November Novem-ber 13 that he was prepared to b(!Kln construction. "I am waiting for the road commission com-mission to build a road to the site," he said. "As soon as that is done, I can go ahead." Ezra C. Knowlton, chief engineer engi-neer for the road commission, said specifications for one road project on the prison property, to lead from the building site to the Denver & Rio Grande Western spur track crossing a corner of the property, had been approved during the past week by the road commission. "Work probably will be started this week on that road, which we understand Is the one the prison contractor wants done first," said Mr. Knowlton. Specifications on a second road link, leading from the building site to U. S. highway 91, have not yet been approved, Mr. Knowlton reported. Each of the two links will be slightly less than a mile long and will be gravel surfaced. Mr. Knowlton estimated construction would take from a month to six weeks.
