Show Contractors Nominate Utah Leaders At Annual Meeting Lieutenant Colonel Elmer G. Thomas Addresses More Than 200 Contractors at Memorial Hall Monday Pointing out that defense work worth approximately approxi-mately $15,000,000 is under way in this locality, and describing the work being done at Hill Field, the Salt t q1.-p f.itv Airport, and other Doints. Li nel Elmer G. Thomns addressed contractors of the Iutermountaln West during a program and banquet ban-quet in the Memorial Hall here Monday night. Officers for the coming year, to be chosen during the annual meet-In- and election January 18 and 19 in the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City, were nominated as follows: President, C. L. Wheeler of Salt Lake City, and G. M. Paulson of Salt Lake City; vice-president, Paul Paulson of Ogden, and Albert Al-bert Whitney of Ogden; secretary secre-tary and treasurer, H. E. Schravel of Salt Lake City, and Ellis Barker Bar-ker of Salt Lake City; executive committee, Frank J. Fullmer of Salt Lake City, and Ted Jacobsen of Salt Lake City; Joseph W. Grant of Springville, and Earl Paul of Ogden. It was announced that Patrick Zachary, president of the National Association of General Contractors, Contract-ors, would be the principal speaker speak-er during the annual meeting in January. Highway contractors were asked ask-ed to meet with the Utah State Industrial commission in Salt Lake City Tuesday at the state capitol. Other speakers on the program were Frank J. Fullmer, president; Springville Mayor A. O. Thorn; B. D. Palfreyman and Fielding K. Smith. Miscellaneous singing and accordion ac-cordion music during the dinner hour was given by Joyce Palmer and Gus Varney, and a floor show was given under their direction. A general discussion on workmen's work-men's compensation was carried on and the urging of highway construction con-struction under the defense program pro-gram to be done by contract rather ra-ther than WPA, was suggested. Approximately 2 00 contractors attended the meeting, plans for which were under the general chairmanship of Joseph W. Grant. |
