Show honored by a place in this exemplary exem-plary display will be awarded a scroll of honor by the National Needlecraft bureau, in recognition of her worthy contribution to the needlework arts. MRS. BARLOW GETS RECOGNITION FOR NEEDLEWORK Mrs. Eva Barlow has received national recognition for her fine needlework, and her work represented repre-sented this locality in an exhibit of outstanding American crochet held in New York City from November No-vember 25th to November 30th. The exhibition was held in the grand ballroom of the American Woman's Association clubhouse, and marks the completion of the judging in the fourth annual nation-wide contest. America's top-ranking top-ranking crochet was seen in the dramatic displays, including only those pieces of work which took first prizes at local, county and state fairs during 1940. It is estimated that more than three thousand visitors a day viewed view-ed the exhibit, which was an important im-portant annual event for all needlewomen. nee-dlewomen. The local woman's work held a prominent position in the displays. The exhibit opened formally on Monday, November 2 5th, at a press reception for the new national crochet champion, Mrs. A. E. Burkhardt, selected by the contest on November 19. Mrs. Burkhardt's grand prize winning piece was a five-piece luncheon set, crocheted in a continuous whorl pattern. The 2,628 crocheted articles on exhibition were chosen from 350,-000 350,-000 pieces entered in American fairs during 19 40 and represent the finest and best in contemporary contempor-ary crochet.
