Show (Romance And gaiety Of Valentine Season (Prevails In This Week's Springville Parties FRIENDS ENTERTAINED AT VALENTINE PARTY Featuring a valentine theme, an entertaining party was held at the home of Nadine and Burton Harmer Tuesday evening. Luncheon was served early in the evening following which miscellaneous misc-ellaneous games were played. In attendance were the following follow-ing guests: Beth Stebbin, Juanita Curtis, Berniece Liechty, Larraine Thorn, Cora Batty, Phyllis Bram-mall, Bram-mall, Wilma Tuttle, Norma Jean Lee, Glade Tuttle, Blaine Batty, Calvert Ivie, Merlin Fox, and Lee Harmer. o Title As 'Best Dressed' - T " f A FRIENDS ENTERTAINED AT VALENTINE PARTY A delightful evening was spent Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Harward. A tasty luncheon was served at small tables centered with red and white sweet peas that were part of the decorations carrying out a valentine theme. Five hundred hund-red was played with the high score prize going to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rigtrup. Present were Mr. and Mrs. H. Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Packard, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rigtrup, Rig-trup, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Straw, Ralph Palfreyman. Ida Packard, and the host and hostess. SURPRISE PARTY ENTERTAINS FRINTCDS A group of friends surprised Loren A. Nielson at his home Saturday Sat-urday night. A chicken dinner was served early in the evening at small tables with a valentine theme being used in decorations. M. club party was held Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Abe Ullock. Mrs. Jean Brown was hostess. A delicious dinner was served at small tables following which Mrs. Floss Phillips received the book, "Escape." MOTHERS OF NOTER CHEZ MEMBERS ENTERTAiINED Mothers of members of the Noter Chez club, National Home Economics organization were honor hon-or guests Wednesday night at a valentine tea. Miscellaneous games were played play-ed In keeping with the valentine theme with prizes going to Mar-Jorle Mar-Jorle Simkins, Mrs. Emma Long, and Theo Childs. The program included the following fol-lowing musical numbers, a violin solo by Luella Huntington accompanied accom-panied by Theo Childs, and a Piano solo by Louise Clyde. Assisting hostesses were Betty Cranmer, Norma Roylance, Nadine Childs, and Vera Bartholomew. Club supervisor is Miss Jean Smith, high school instructor in Home Economics. . BETTY ANDERSON HOSTESS AT VALENTINE PARTY Miss Betty Anderson was hostess host-ess to a group of friends at a valentine val-entine party held at her home, Saturday night. Unique games were played following fol-lowing which a delicious potluck supper was served. Guests in attendance were Gladys Glad-ys Weight, Ray Jones; Enid Ew-Ing, Ew-Ing, Max Hatch; Dorothy Long, Robert Greaves, La Dean, Dwain Turner, Hewitt Strong Jr. and the hostess. HOME CULTURE CLUB ENTERTAINS GUESTS Lovely in every detail was a party given by the Home Culture club for their husbands and guests Wednesday evening at the chicken Roost. Room and table decorations carried car-ried out a valentine theme. A turkey dinner was served early in the evening at two large tables centered with red and white sweet peas. Mrs. D. B. Welch, club president pres-ident gave a welcoming address, and Claude Eggertsen gave a toast to the ladies. Elmo Coffman sang, "I Love You Truly," and Mrs. Howard Thorpe and Mrs. Arthur Condie sang "Happy Birthday" to Ronald Thorpe and Mrs Elmo Coffman, and also another vocal number. Mrs. Wilford Blanchard sang, "Your Song from Paridise.'' Following the dinner, contract bridge was played with high score prize for men going to Ronald Thorpe and the high score for womengoing to Mrs. Ronald Thorpe, and D. B. Welch won the draw prize. MILLER HOSTESS TO FIDELITY CLUB Fidelity Bridge club members were entertained at the home of Mrs. Olive Miller Thursday evening. eve-ning. The decorative scheme was carried car-ried out with a valentine motif, in table decorations. Luncheoa was served at 8 o'clock after which bridge was played. High score was won by Floss Cates, second by Rose Roylance. The club ladies presented Mrs. Miller with a lovely birthday gift in rememberance of her birthday which was that day. Club members at the party were Mrs. Ann Johnson, Mrs. Fay Cran-m'en, Cran-m'en, Mrs. Marie Morgan, Mrs. Floss Cates, Mrs. Rose Roylance, Mrs. Flora Maiben, Mrs. Mary Clegg, and Mrs. Delia Ballen. PARIS, France Pictured is the Duchess of Windsor, wife of former King Edward VIII of Britain, who with the Duchess of Kent, was declared to be the best dressed woman in a poll of Parisian dressmakers. The Duchesses, always near the top, in fashion rankings, tied for first place. MOTHERS STUDY CLUB ENTERTAINS GUESTS . One of the outstanding parties of the week was that given by members of the Mothers' Study club for their guests held Thursday Thurs-day evening at the home of Mrs. A. G. Thorn. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Nell Alleman, chairman, Mrs. Margaret Huntington, Mrs. Zelma Beardall, Mrs. Eliza Russell, Rus-sell, and Mrs. Erma Gudmundsen. President Philda Finley welcomed wel-comed the group after which a delicious dinner was served at -small tables. Attractive Valentine favors, place cards and center- j pieces of red and white sweet peas were employed in the decorations. During the dinner, an interesting inter-esting program was given including includ-ing vocal numbers by a trio consisting con-sisting of Mrs. Philda Finley, Mrs. Gladys Boyer, and Mrs. Gene Pierce, accompanied by Miss Barbara Bar-bara Gudmundsen; a toast to the guests by Mrs. Ella Reynolds; a vocal duet by Earl and Catherine Sumsion, accompanied by Mrs. Eva Crandall; witticisms on the club, Mrs. Jessie Whitney; a toast to the ladies, S. J. Boyer. Following dinner, "Monte Carlo Whist" was enjoyed with high score prizes for games going to Mrs. Gertrude Sumsion and Wayne Johnson and the consolations to Mrs. Mae Huntington and L. J. Whitney. In attendance were 56 club members and guests. JEUNE MERE CLUB ENTERTAINED An interesting talk on "Music Appreciation" was the feature of a meeting of the Jeune Mere club held Monday night at the home of Mrs. Maurine Haymond. Luncheon was served at small tables and decorations were carded car-ded out according to a Lincoln't Birthday theme. Jay Haymond gave a vocal solo. Special guests present were Mrs. May Johnson of Provo, Mrs. La-Rue La-Rue Haymonjd, (Mrsi. Fay Haymond, Hay-mond, Mrs. Helen Haymond, Mrs. Beulah Whiting, Mrs. Pat Whiting, Whit-ing, Mrs. Dally Thorn, and Mrs. Roberta Green. Club members attending were: Florence Allan, Margaret Blackett, Lucille Childs, Edna Clyde, Dade-line Dade-line Despain, Maurine Haymond, Beth Jensen, Florence Nielson, Naoina Thorn, - Marie Whiting, Mabel Wright, Minnie Richards, and Naomi Packard. AD LIBITUM CLUB ENTERTAINED Miss Margaret Pierce was hostess host-ess to members of the Ad libitum club Monday evening, at the home of Mrs. Lynn Williams. Luncheon was served first at I small tables centered with red and white sweet peas as center pieces following which bridge was played. The high score prize was won by Mrs. Evelyn Fry. Members and guests present were Afton Bringhurst, Lola i Smith, Hortense Harward, Ida Packard, Dona Collins. Evelyn Jordan, Naomi Pierce, Alleen Mc-Kenzie, Mc-Kenzie, Betty Sumsion, Elaine Crandall, Wanda Peay, and special guests were Ercell Clark, Delia Baxter, Margaret Christensen, and Mrs. Evelyn Fry. |
