Show AMERICANISM IS THEME OF JAYCEE MEETING Carrying out a theme of "Americanism", "Amer-icanism", the first regular Jaycee meeting was held Monday evening Februnry 12, at the Valley Tavern. Tav-ern. This theme was carried out in connection with Americanism week which Mayor A. 0. Thorn has officially set aside as the week from Feb. 12 to 22. Short talks on "Americanism" were given by Paul Haymond, chairman of the ' Americanism committee; Ray Richards, newly installed Jaycee president; Mark Eggertsen, first vice-president of Provo; and Max Swenson of the Provo Junior Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. ; Five hundred copies of the "Bill of Rights" have been distributed to the high school and library to be pasted in the back of civics and government books. Approximately fifty members were present. Any young fellows who desire to be in the charter member group have until March 1 to join. Ed Jolley, Fred Sumsion, and Warren Beardall were appointed members of a sefety committee. This committee was asked to meet with the Utah County Safety council coun-cil Tuesday evening at the City and County Building in Provo. Lee Miner, chairman of the Athletic committee gave a report in which he stated that fellows are working out in the gym for the basketball team and that a game had been slated between American Fork Jaycees and Spring ville to be held in the American Fork gym, Thursday evening. An amendment was made changing the meeting date from Monday evenings to Wednesday evenings, therefore the next meeting meet-ing will be Wednesday, February 21. A Board of Directors meeting meet-ing is scheduled -for the former meeting night of Monday. |
