Show Proposed Milk Ordinance There is now before the Springville City Council the subject of preparing a milk ordinance which will guarantee the residents of ;Springville good sanitary milk. The Springville Chamber of Commerce Com-merce together with local dairymen are sponsoring this ordinance which will not only insure clean and sanitary milk here but will also help solve economic conditions in regard to milk sale here. At the present time the majority of the milk sold in our stores and all pasteurized milk is being shipped in from Provo. Milk produced pro-duced by our Springville herds cannot be sold in Provo because there is no inspection of milk in Springville and therefore our local milk does not meet the rigid requirements necessary for it to be accepted on the Provo market. The proposed new ordinance is of such a nature that it will require that milk which is produced here iwill be done so under state inspection and willl be accepted anywhere any-where in the state. 1 People with one or two cows producing milk primarily for their own consumption, in all probability, will not be affected by the new ordinance. This new milk ordinance when it is passed will put local dairymen dairy-men to some expense in cleaning up and putting in a sanitary condition con-dition their milk sheds. It will also require that modern up-to-date methods of straining and handling milk including proper cooling be installed, however the advantages both economically and to the healthy well being of our community far out weighs this expense. It is urged that individuals express themselves to the city coun-cilmen coun-cilmen and particularily the mayor in regard to this proposed ordinance. |
