Show Recreation Areas Now Open To Public a Recreational areas in the canyons can-yons east of here are open and ready for tourists and campers, reports LeRoy Whitehead, newly appointed recreational director. He is located at Cherry Forest camp in Hobble Creek canyon and will be on hand at all times to assist campers or groups on outing arrangements. ar-rangements. Approximately 10 recreational areas are available to the public including Palmyra camp in Diamond Dia-mond Fork canyon, Cherry, Sulphur, Sul-phur, Birches, Balsam Park, and others in Hobble Creek canyon. All are equipped with water, cooking facilities, tables and benches. Organized groups who expect to visit the areas during the summer, should make reservations with I either Mr. Whitehead, the Uinta j .National Forest office at Provo, or with Merrill Nielson, forest ranger at Spanish Fork, and the i area will be reserved, Mr. Whitehead White-head said. Another suggestion has been made that neighbors combine their j groups into one car and then ex- j change the compliment, thus two families may enjoy the canyon trip instead of one and at the same ' time save on the car and tires. A number of people are doing this, as Mr. Whitehead has noted each car coming to the canyon this year has averaged at least five people. Cooperation of campers and picnickers in keeping the areas clean, putting out fires and taking tak-ing care of equipment and refrain- J ing from cutting and defacing trees and undergrowth is asked by. forest officials. Also, when tables are moved for the convenience of groups they should be returned to their proper position, Mr. Whitehead White-head stated. j |
