Show Mrs. mma Lee Is Honored At Open House Mrs. Emma S. Kelsey Lee, well known matron of Mapleton, will be honored on the occasion of her 80th birthday Sunday, with an open house reception from 2 until 5 p. m., at her home in Mapleton. The entertainment is under direction of her children and an invitation is extended to relatives and friends to call. Mrs. Lee was born in Springville, December 14, 1861, just three months after her parents, William H. and Harriet Huggett Kelsey, arrived ar-rived from London, England. She attended the early day schools in Springville and well remembers re-members her principal teacher, Professor C. D. Evans. On July 22, 1880, she was married to John H. Lee, in the Salt Lake Endowment Endow-ment house, by Daniel H. Wells. In 1892, Mr. and Mrs. Lee moved to Mapleton, where both took an active part in community and church affairs of the town. Mrs. Lee was a teacher in the Relief society 35 years, and she is also a charter member of the Mapleton camp, D. TJ. P. Her husband died 12 years ago, and just five weeks after his death, she had the misfortune misfor-tune of fracturing her hip and has been confined to a chair since then. Mrs. Lee is always busy with her handiwork, doing beautiful crocheting, cro-cheting, piecing of quilts, and knitting. knit-ting. She is the mother of 13 sons and daughters, 10 of whom are living. liv-ing. She also has 50 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Her children are : Mrs. Pearl Diamond, Dia-mond, Ronald Lee and Kelsey Lee of Mapleton; Harry and Frederick Lee, Mrs. Jay Averett and Mrs. J. U. Cherrington, Springville; William Wil-liam Lee, Spanish Fork; Arnold Lee, Thistle; and Mrs. Horace Manwaring of Los Angeles, Calif. She has a sister, Mrs. Harriet Davis, 88, of Salem, and two half-sisters, half-sisters, Mrs. Frank MaCann and Mrs. Esther Snyder of Provo. |
