Show NATIVE LUMBER BEING USED IN EMERGENCY The importance of using native timber products during the emergency emer-gency is brought out in the annual an-nual report made by George C. Larson of the Uinta National Forest, For-est, for the timber cut during 1943 on the Forest. 7,436,000 feet were sold during the year, but as several contracts cover a period of from two to four years, the actual cut amounted to only 3,930,000 feet, B. M. Of this amount, 3,711,000 feet were soldi to timber sale operators or timber tim-ber men who reduce props for the mines in Carbon county or the metal mines near Park City. 229,-000 229,-000 feet were sold to farmers at a nominal cost. The amounts sold and cut are greater than in former years and indications point to a still greater great-er demand next season. By using local timber, transportation transpor-tation of materials from the coast states is relieved and at the same time considerable income accrues to the people of the communities near the Forests. |
