Show GERMANY BOMBED 4 WITH 800 BOMBS PER DAY The extent of the aerial bombardment bom-bardment of Germany can be estimated esti-mated from the report of Lieut.-Gencral Lieut.-Gencral Iia C. SJaker. Commander Command-er of the U. S. Eighth Air Force, and the Pjoyal Air Force review of events in 1943. During the calendar year, American bombers dropped a daily average of 153 tons of bombs on Germany. The RAF averaged 410 tons per day. The fact is that the heavy bombing of American planes really real-ly got underway the last of the year. In the month of December, the Eighth Air Force had a daily average of about 400 tons. This approximately equalled the intensity inten-sity of the RAF's night attacks. From this information, we may conclude that Germany is being pounded by not less than 800 tons of explosives and incendiaries a day. The tonnage will certainly increase during January and in the months ahead. While there may be some argument argu-ment as to the ability of the Air Force to win the war on the West, without a cross-Channel invasion, there can be no doubt whatever that the aerial bombardment is inflicting heavy blows upon Germany Ger-many and seriously impairing Nazi productive facilities. |
