Miss Shirlene Harmer was guest of honor at a birthday-party birthday-party Wednesday. BOOSTERS EN JOY SWIMMING PARTY" A swimming party proved a gay frolic for members of the Boosters Boost-ers club Monday night. Following swimming at Park Ro-She, the girls met at the home of Elsie Sumsion, where the chief diversion was writing in the 1940 high school year books. For luncheon the girls carried out the novel idea of cans. Each girl Tjrought an unlabeled can representing some course of the luncheon. A delicious luncheon, according to a pink and white color scheme, was served at small tables. " During the evening the girls played "Rummy," and Miss Ber-niece Ber-niece Harmer, a member of the club, announced her engagement' to Enls Woffinden of Spanish Fork. . Table appointments were carried car-ried out according to a rose and white color scheme, with roses forming the -centerpiece and rose tapers in silver candelabra at either end of the table. A beautiful beauti-ful white birthday cake decorated with rosebuds was the central decorative piece. FIDELITY BRIDGE CLUB HAS POT LUCK SUPPER An entertaining potluck supper was enjoyed by members of the Fidelity . bridge club Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Flora Maiben. During the evening bridge was played with high score prize going to Mrs. Floss Cates, second prize to Mrs. Flora Maiben, consolation to Ann Johnson, and the guest prize to Mrs. L. A. Johnson. Guests present were Ellen Dal-lin, Dal-lin, Doris Bird, Berniece Cranmer, and Mrs. L. A. Johnson. Members attending were the mesdames Rose Roylance, Mary Clegg, Flora Maiben, Della Dallin, Fay Cranmer, Cran-mer, Ann Johnson, Floss Cates, and Marie Morgan. CANYON PARTY ENTERTAINING Teachers of the Grant school and officers of the P.-T. A. and their partners enjoyed a canyon party Wednesday night at Birch's camp in Hobble Creek canyon. The following enjoyed a hamburger ham-burger supper and games: Mr. and Mrs. Reed Clements, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weight, Mr. and Mrs. tess to members of the Social Twelve club at a nicely arranged party Thursday night. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed early in the evening at small tables and later contract bridge was played. High score prize was won by Mrs. Hilda Grant. Attending were eleven club members and Mrs. Blanch Tipton, a special guest. ETHEL TRANOHELL FETED AT BIRTHDAY PARTY Miss Mary Ann Tranchell and her mother, Mrs. Claus Tranchell, were hostesses at a birthday party Saturday night in honor of Ethel Tranchell. A beautiful pink and white birthday cake with pink candles was the central decorative piece on the table from which a delicious deli-cious luncheon was served to guests who attended. During the evening a variety of games were played. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed at small tables, following which 500, sewing and social conversation featured the afternoon's after-noon's entertainment. STMKINS-ROACH WEDDING PLANS TOLD Mr. and Mrs. George Simkins of this city announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, Marie, to Myles Roach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Roach of Spanish Fork, the marriage to take place Wednesday, Wed-nesday, May 29, in the Salt Lake temple. Miss Simkins is a graduate of Brigham Young university, Provo, and has been teaching in the schools of the Nebo district. Mr. Roach is also a former student stu-dent of the B. Y. U. The young couple will make their home in Spanish Fork. MRS. JESS LEE HONORED AT PARTY Mrs. Jess Lee, formerly Verona Condie, was guest of honor at a party given by a group of girl friends Saturday night at the home of Beth Miller. Luncheon was served at small tables, holding rosebud centerpieces, center-pieces, early in the evening, following fol-lowing which progressive pickup was played with prizes going to Louise Patrick and Blanche Palmer Pal-mer of Provo. About twenty guests who attended at-tended presented the guest of honor with many lovely gifts. M. I. A. RETIRING OFFICERS HONORED Second ward retiring officers and teachers in the M. I. A., Minerva Min-erva Jessee, Helen Strong, and Cleone Fox;, were guests of honor at a party Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Roy Strong. Each honor guest was presented present-ed with a scrapbook in appreciation apprecia-tion for their work. Luncheon was served early in the evening, after which Mrs. Ruby Christensen gave a review of the book, "Mother of the Smiths." Attending were Hazel Harrison, Harri-son, Margaret Miner, Ellen Anderson, An-derson, Edna Thorpe, Ina Ottesen, Lucille Packard, and the guests of honor.
