Show ('HEAVY FINES IMPOSED ON DEER HUNTERS Andrew J. Roy and Bill J. Cum-mings, Cum-mings, defense workers residing- a1 the Ironton hotel, Wednesday hac plead guilty to killing deer out oi season and had been fined $15C and $100, respectively, by Precinct Justice Wayne Johnson. The fines are to be paid by March 31. The arrests were made by H. M Weight, Springville city marshal also president of the local Wild Life Federation and a game warden, war-den, and Alton Giles of Provo, president pres-ident of the Provo Wild Life Federation, Fed-eration, following a tip by a steel plant worker who had watched the hunters' activities. The fish and game officers parked their car at the rear of the Ironton hotel to await the return of the hunters, who, it was reported had been hunting on the hills east of the hotel during the afternoon. The two men returned after dark, with no game, but the clothing of one man indicated he had been carrying a deer. After questioning question-ing by the two officers, Marshal Weight was taken to where the deer a dressed doe and a fawn had been cached, and the two men were placed under arrest. In addition to killing the deer out of season, the men were also breaking the law by carrying fire arms on a game preserve, the territory ter-ritory east of the hotel being a preserve, Marshal Weight stated. |
