An episode incident to the recent re-cent Class B Basketball Tournament Tourna-ment proves that the spirit of true chivalry is not dead among the teen-age devotees of the hard wood sport. Failing to make the grade requisite re-quisite for competition in the popular pop-ular Class B fiesta, the Flyers of Dixie high school of St. George, donated enough money to send the Hurricane high school girls' pep club to Salt Lake City with their own Typhoons, champions of Region Re-gion Six. This gesture of friendly helpfulness helpful-ness on the part of a group of defeated de-feated and disappointed kids, is a lesson in true sportsmanship we might all take to heart. It all goes to show that the motives and ideals of the American youth are all right. The writer has been a close student stu-dent of high school basketball for many years, and can recall few instances of poor sportsmanship displayed by the young players themselves. The unsavory episodes that occasionally flare up in the heat of competition are unvariably caused by our zealous and emotionally emo-tionally unstable fans. Even the student spectators take ing spirit and good sportsmanship they have displayed. Especially do we appreciate the true spirit of Americanism displayed by the Dixie Flyers in their recent gesture ges-ture of good will and helpfulness. not from never falling, but from rising every time we fall to fight on to greater victories.
