Seven members of the Springville American Legion post No. 28, were presented with 25-year continuous continu-ous membership awards at the annual birthday dinner-program Saturday evening. Legion Observes Birthday; Membership Award Given Commemorating the anniversary of the organization organi-zation of the American Legion, the Springville Post No. 28. e-ave a most successful dinner and program last Saturday evening, under the direction of Commander C. Mack Collings. A highlight of the occasion was the presentation of certificates for five, ten, fifteen, twenty and twenty-five years of continuous membership in the legion. The presentations were made by Lloyd Wignall, department adjutant, who spoke briefly. The awards were made as follows: fol-lows: 25-year memberships, H. T. Reynolds, Alma Miner, William J. Phillips, Paul Frandsen, George Nelson, Miles Curfew, Ed Johnson; 20-years, Harold Christensen, F. C. Packard, Gurn H. Johnson, J. A. J Miller, Michael Long; 15-year, J. Leonard Love, Ed Clyde, Frank Berrett, A. C. Chader, Lester Davis, Da-vis, J. Albert Giles, Clay Beesley; 10-year, John Y. Bearnson. Bird Brown, S. Verl Jones, Lee Walker, Frank Clark; 5-year Mead Weight, George Bird, C. Mack Collings, Finley Roylance, V. Dean Hafen, Shirley Thorpe. Melvin Phillips, David Thomas, Orvil Clark, Edwin J. Johnson, Richard Wiley, Ted Taylor and Keith Davis. Russell Mendenhall acted as toastmaster at the legion birthday party at , which Ardean Watts of Provo entertained with piano selections sel-ections and John Whittaker also of the BYU gave clever impersonations imperson-ations and vocal numbers. Mayor Edward Clyde slso spoke briefly during the program which was attended by a large group of Legionnaires Le-gionnaires and their partners. |
