Show Tjewd looted A number of relatives were in Salt Lake City Wednesday evening even-ing to attend the wedding of Ned Combs, son of Arch and Beama Bryan Combs of Hershey, Nebr., and Miss Larsen of Salt Lake City. Going from Springville were Mrs. Minerva Weight, Mrs. Emma Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bird, Mrs. Gale Loftin, Mr. and Mrs. Carvel Brinkerhoff. Mrs. Kent Miner (Virginia Lee) is leaving Sunday by plane to join her husband in San Juan, Porto Rico, where he is stationed with the Atlantic Command headquarters. head-quarters. They will be there for an indefinite time. Mrs. Miner has been making her home with her mother in Provo while Kent has been in the service. Capt. and Mrs. Russell Laney (Mary Louise Wingate) and their four children have returned to Springville from Hanau, Germany, where they have made their home the past two years. Capt. Laney has received his release from the army and they are, staying with Mrs. Laney's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wingate for the present. pres-ent. Tokyo Pfc. Taylor L. Perkins 22, son of Mrs. E. L. Singleton, Springville, recently spent a week in Tokyo from his unit in Korea. Tokyo is Japan's largest metropolitan metro-politan area and one of the largest cities in the world. Private First Class Perkins, an ammunition bearer in Company K of the ,24th Infantry Division's 19th Regiment, entered the army in April 1953 and arrived overseas over-seas the following January. Duane E. Williams, fireman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis T. Williams of 10th South, 7th East, Springville, is attending a course at the Naval Pipefitter school in San Diego. The school teaches the skills needed by the high-pressure and auxiliary systems of the modern high-speed combat vessels of the Navy which require expert pipe-fitting, pipe-fitting, coppersmithing and welding. weld-ing. Upon completion of the course, graduates will report to ship and shore stations to acquire practical experience. |
