Show Uranium Mine in ' Chute Canyon Among the Best Cute Canyon Uranium Co., 'organized 'or-ganized by several Springville men with Frank Morgan, president, presi-dent, lines up with some of the best of them, according to a report re-port from Mr. Morgan upon returning re-turning from an inspection trip to the mine early this week. The mine is equipped with the most modern machinery available for that type of mining with a machine shop, cook house and three traler homes all electrically electric-ally equipped at the site. At present there are five miners min-ers working the mine with Del Mortensen of Springville, dozer operator. Utilizing their drill holes for ventilation, the mine is reported to be one of the cleanest and best ventilated on the Colorado plateau, plat-eau, according to the state mine inspector. The newly installed equipment has increased ' the efficiency ef-ficiency of mine operation approximately approx-imately 70 percent, the president stated. Ships1 Ore During the past 30 days a total of 69 tons of commercial ore have been shipped from the mine, ' the amount being made up of salvage ore obtained while driving to the ore body. The ore body, 150 feet wide and 300 feet long, has been developed by drilling some 69 holes, it was stated and every indication in-dication points to the out-put of good commercial ore, the last load bringing $806. Mr. Morgan, a member of the Colorado Mining Association of Denver, Colo., and the Uranium Ore Products Association, Grand Junction, left this week with Mrs. Morgan to attend the Gold, Silver and Uranium Mining convention in Denver February 3, 4 and 5. Mr. Morgan will have samples of uranium on display at the convention con-vention that will run from 4 to 10 percent, he stated. It will be the largest mining convention held in the country, featuring as the speakers Floyd Oldum, Charles Stein, Vernon Pick and others. Some of the best geologists in the country will also attend the convention. |
