Show Builder Returns From Convention, Voices Optimism Giant Nielson, manager of the Grand Lumber Co., and vice-president of the Utah Valley Home Builders Assn., returned recently from the National Assn. of Home Builders convention and exposition in Chicago. He went in company with Dallas Young, Jr., of Provo, executive secretary of the association. assoc-iation. Upon his return, Grant voiced an optimistic forecast so far as the production of new homes is concerned the coming year. The past year was the highest in the production of houses, with exception excep-tion of 1950, in the nation's history, he reported. Major factors contributing to the , bright picture for the building iri-I iri-I dustry, as listed at the convention, are: New low down payments and longterm mortgages; housing for service personnel; rehabilitation and maintenance of existing hous- ing; open-end mortgages and minority min-ority housing problems. Mr. Nielson said the builders left the convention well oriented for current building problems and determined de-termined to keep the economy booming with the production of needed housing. |
