His letter follows: I J:;ir Kdil.ur, "It might. inl.i:n:.st a f.:w of your 'readers to Ir;arn that my wife and I will celebrate our fiftieth wedding- anniversary on January 4, 195.1. "I was born in Salem, Utah, January 25, 1886, and my wife was born on Fox Island, HI., 4 days latiT. In 1808, William All-good All-good and his wife with two girls who were living with them moved to Springville, but a few months later moved to a ranch between Salem and Payson. One of the girls, Katie, went to school in Salem Sa-lem one year then went to Pay-son. Pay-son. In 1904 the ladies, tired of the lonesomeness on the ranch, bought a place in Springville and ran a small grocery. It was there that Katie and I were married on January Jan-uary 4, 1905. Later Amelia married Hyrum Christensen and the old folks moved back to Kentucky where we came to visit them in 1908 and where we have lived since. Your librarian, Effie Kel-sey, Kel-sey, visited us here and corresponds corres-ponds with me annually, her mother moth-er being my aunt. "As I remember the past, I recall re-call several names and places from Springville, Packard the dentist, G. E. Anderson the photographer, Deal Bros., and Mendenhall general gener-al store. When a farmer offered to sell a calf to apply on his account Mr. Deal remarked it was poor but would do to eat with bread. Gus Houtz and Charlie Bissell on the freight local on Tintic branch; Mitchell, agent for the R.G.W.; Martie Bird, agent at Eureka; R. Leo Bird who taught me bookkeeping bookkeep-ing at L.D.S. College in Salt Lake; Bishop O. B. Hunington who married mar-ried us. Possiblv some of their relatives would like to know that a person in Kentucky remembers them. "A talk with Selena or Effie Kel-sey Kel-sey or Lee Taylor will confirm above statements and I would appreciate ap-preciate a news item relative to our wedding celebration. "Incidentally a late employee at the Herald office, Keith Hendrick-son, Hendrick-son, is my nephew. John Q. Stone." |
