Show Solvation Army Story Doss , CosHiendab'e Job About 10 p.m. on a Saturday night two young men from Utah came to the residence of the Salvation Sal-vation Army treasurer who is also the county welfare director in Yellowstone, Yel-lowstone, Wyo. They had left Utah Friday evening after work to visit Yellowstone over the weekend. They had figured closely but felt their funds sufficient by being careful. They didn't know of the entrance fee to the park and during the night someone had drained their gas tank. Legally, they could not be helped by state welfare funds. Believing them to be honest, the welfare director, as treasurer of the Salvation Army, gave them $10. They offered to leave security which she declined. They repaid the $10 in a very few days with the remark "It is good there are people (and an organization) like yours in this world." Before the $10 was deposited a family of seven with another baby due in a few weeks became stranded on their way to a job in Oregon. The $10 was given to this family to help them finish their journey. Thus, this $10 helped 3 couples and six little children out of a jam, and happily on their way. Such cases justify the Salvation Army slogan I "Help us to Help Others." |
