This sovereign of the valley Lies eastward of the town. Her crest is ridged layers deep With virgin winter snow, Beacon sign of promise To the valley down below. In bold relief she towers, A giant fortress, broad and high Symbol of might and beauty Facing heavenward to the sky. Its crowning rim slopes downward, Vegetation growing on its breast, Made brilliant by the setting sun From its foot up to its crest. . Amethyst blends with greens, Spreading a veneer of orchid hue Upward to the summit port, Where the glory of God shines through. 4 This veil of changeable color Transmits a feeling of calm and rest As nature performs her miracle Over this valley of the blessed.
