Show City Asks For Bids On New Hobble Creek Bridge Springville city officials this week are calling for bids for the construction of a new bridge over Hobble Creek at Fifth East on Fourth South Street. The state has proffered to assist with funds for the bridge, the bids on which will be opened June 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the City hall. Plans and specifications for the bridge , are available at the recorder's office. of-fice. City officials have also passed an ordinance limiting business on property not in the business district. dis-trict. The ordinance in short specifies spec-ifies that repair work and other business may be carried on so long as it does not disturb neighbors. However, no retail or wholesale business can be carried on outside the business area, the ordinance points out. Officials also report that the National Guard lost no time in placing new bleachers at the Memorial Mem-orial park in place of the old ones which were torn down. The new seats adds to the seating facilities as well as the appearance of the new Memorial park. The city mayor and councilmen decided at the council meeting to designate the American Legion to take over a drive to raise funds for Korean relief. The mayor designated the week of June 7 to 14 as Korean Relief week and the drive, acocrding to present plans will be made next Wednesday, June 10. In the drive it is planned to contact con-tact each home and urge contribution contri-bution of $1 per family for the campaign to raise Springville's quota. |
