Show Libraries Help With Research For Businesses Today, when the pace of progress pro-gress is breakneck, and the tidal flow of printed matter in all fields sometimes seems overwhelming, many business organizations main- tain special libraries to help keep up with and ahead of developments develop-ments in their respective field, according ac-cording to American Iron and Steel Institute. For this purpose, more than 50 fulltime librarians are employed by various iron and steel companies, compan-ies, operating research and technical tech-nical libraries for the companies. There number is growing. Not all the libraries are small. One large company has a central library with 12,000 volumes, subscribes sub-scribes to 500 periodicals, and has 115 file drawers containing material ma-terial on metallurgy, engineering, industrial relations, business administration, ad-ministration, commerce and other subjects. This library also services fourteen other smaller libraries in various plants and divisions of the company. |
