FIng Dates Near With the filing date for Republican Repub-lican and Democrat candidates nearing or past, political interest is being revived in Springville this week. Republicans have until July 21 for local candidates to file, prior to their nominating convention August 11. The deadline for state officers, down to and including the regional posts of district attorney, was Monday for the Democrats, although al-though they still have to July 14, to file for county offices the five state House of Representatives and two county comraissionerships at stake this fall. The Democratic nomination convention for the county is Aug. 4. There is but one candidate filed at present for the legislature for Democrat from District 5, which includes Springville, Mapleton and the eastern portion of Spanish Fork. That candidate is Mrs. Mary H. Pritchett of Springville. Others are expected to file before the July 14 deadline. LeRoy D. Tingey is the only Republican who has filed for the state representative post from District 5. The time limit for filings fil-ings is July 21. Neither of the senator posts are at stake in this fall's election in Utah county. Luke Clegg of Provo and Grant Thorn of Springville will continue their terms for the next two years. |
