Show itors alike, they provide a vital ingredient in-gredient to our way of life. In fact, next to food, clothing: and shelter, transportation stands at the top of the daily requirements of the average American family. Service stations, in a ? real sense, are the hubs around which countless count-less cities and communities like ours revolve. And the men who operate them are respected business bus-iness men and responsible citizens, with many of them active in various organizations and deeply interested in our social welfare. This week, special tribute Is being be-ing paid to the service station operators of Springville for the vital role they play in the welfare of our community. Service Station Men Get Tribute Everybody knows that the local service station operator provides an essential service. But not many people realize that he also serves as our town's unofficial ambassador ambassa-dor of good will, it was pointed out this week by J C officials, marking oil Progress Week. As a. matter of fact, the service station man is responsible for bringing a lot of business into our town. He is also our community's representative to the country "at large, it was stated. A service station dealer is very often the first loca man most out-of-town visitors meet, and he's the only one many people passing through town ever see. He is the person by whom these people form their first judgments of our town, and thanks to him, these impressions impres-sions are usually good," one official of-ficial commented.' "Out-of-town visitors look to a service station dealer for information infor-mation on local stores, hotels, amusements and services. His recommendations send a steady stream of customers to our lccal businesses. By his hard work, his integrity, and above all, the cheerful cheer-ful way he constantly renders service, ser-vice, he has won the respect of all who know him, and the confidence of those who meet him for the first time," it was observed.
