Show Merry Metcalf Reigns As Centennial Queen Here Miss Merry Metcalf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Metcalf, will reign over the centennial activities activi-ties of the city as the Centennial Queen. Dorothv Cranmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.f Frank Cranmer and Nanalee Reynolds, Rey-nolds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, will enjoy their share of thrills attached with their respective tiUe and duties as attendants at-tendants to the queen. These lovely ladies, selected Friday Fri-day night by judges Mayor Floyd Harmer of Payson, Wallace Gardner Gard-ner of Spanish Fork, and Mrs. Lloyd Cullimore of Provo, were three of twelve beautiful contestants contest-ants vieing for the honors at the Little Theatre in the Art Building. Build-ing. Mrs. Marcus Johnson, chairman chair-man of the queen committee, conducted con-ducted the evening's outstanding program and queen selection. Mrs. Maurice Bird and Mrs. Lewis Bird played piano and violin music as the queens paraded. Elaine Jones and Kae Weight rendered ren-dered a vocal duet, Mrs. Jimmie Lawrence gave a reading and Kae Weight also sang two vocal solos. Large baskets of flowers adorned the theatre. Along with the Centennial Queen crown went $50.00 to the queen and each of her attendants were given $35.00. This will help defray expenses ex-penses of the trio during the remainder re-mainder of the year. Miss Metcalf was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Miss Cranmer by the 20-30 club and Miss Reynolds, by the American Legion Post 28. They will reign over the big Homecoming Celebration here July 1 to 4. |
