Show Lewis Retires From Fight Came PITTSBURGH, June 20 ll.l;i John Henry Lewis,, from whose head the National Boxing commission com-mission lifted the world's light-heavyweight light-heavyweight boxing crown, prepared pre-pared today to move to California to assist in managing a gymnasium gymnas-ium operated by his father. The N. B. A. vacated the light-heavyweight light-heavyweight crown after an examining ex-amining board of three Pittsburgh Pitts-burgh doctors, supervised by Pennsylvania boxing commissioner commission-er Harvey Boyle, found him practically prac-tically blind in the left eye. The title opening came as a break for both Billy Conn, Pittsburgh Pitts-burgh and Emilio Bettina, recognized rec-ognized in New York as the light-heavy light-heavy titlist even while Lewis held the N. B. A. crown. Conn and Bettina are scheduled to fight July 13 and the winner undoubtedly un-doubtedly will be recognized as champion. |
