The cost of the nrotxvieH nmi. ect which will constitute only the first unit of a city sewer system, totals $41,742.53. The city's portion of the expense would total $9,656.03 and the federal contribution $32,086.50. About nine other units would be necessary neces-sary to complete the system covering cov-ering the major streets in the city. It was further pointed out at the meeting that the property owners in the proposed district would necessarily stand the major ma-jor portion of the expense, the exact amount to be figured out should the project meet their approval. Property owners in the district have a right to petition against the project and a two-thirds two-thirds majority can stop it, it was stated. A committee composed of Mayor May-or George A. Anderson, chairman with I. E. Clegg, C. E. Eggertson and W. W. Brockbank were appointed ap-pointed to secure easements for the sewer pipe line on either side of Main street from Fourth South to Center street. Other business included at the council meeting was that of lighting the city ball park. A group of interested citizens asked that this improvement be considered con-sidered and a committee with W. W. Brockbank as chairman, will investigate the expense of the proposed improvement and report at a future meeting. . The council also voted to assist as-sist financially with an observance observ-ance of Pioneer day on July 24, the observance to be under the direct supervision of the stake M. I. A. |
