Show Black Hawk Encampment Springville will have the opportunity this year to show their appreciation and gratitude toward a fast dwindling group of pioneers, who not only carved the way for our present comforts, but who n doing so overcome hardships beyond our realization. This group represents the few remaining re-maining Black Hawk Indian war veterans and their widows, who will gather from all parts of the state to meet old friends and renew acquaintances, at the annual Black Hawk state encampment here, August 14, 15, 16, 17. Although many of their friends are missing from year to year, the annual encampment is anticipated by these elderly people with an enthusiasm known only to those who mingle with them from year to year. Just how will the citizens of this community express their gratiture toward this honored group? For many it will be the city's last chance as the encampment comes to each community once in about ten years. The local Black Hawk committee are bending every effort to make the encampment a success- They are contributing con-tributing their time and a considerable amount of hard work to entertain the veterans together with the thousands thou-sands of out-of-town people expected to attend the four-day celebraton. " ' . It has been the custom at other Black Hawk encampments encamp-ments to furnish the visiting veterans with a place to ileep and their breakfast, and the people of this community com-munity are asked to furnish the above mentioned accomodations. accomo-dations. It is a privilege to have the veterans as our guests and their presence should not inconvenience anyone. any-one. The rooms and beds are needed and committees are anxious to check on these details immediately.. Y. Wheeler, Lorenzo Weight, Fourth; Mrs. Elmer Bird, Leo Ilarmer, Mapleton. The veterans will be taken by committeemen, to. and from their places of residence at anytime.
