Show Mapleton : jj. The Beehive girls invited their partners to go on a weiner roast Saturday evening, at Oak Springs. The following attended : Phyllis Jensen, Donald Bird, Helen Larson,. Lar-son,. Blaine Larson, Bernice Harmer, Har-mer, Ronald Johnson, Fern Jensen, Jen-sen, Mack Holley, Vena March-banks, March-banks, Ted Martindale, June Whiting, Whit-ing, Erma Harmer, Stewart Whiting, Whit-ing, Ruth Whitney and Jay Niel-son. Niel-son. Games and stories were enjoyed en-joyed by all. One of the most outstanding meetings of the, season of the Mapleton- Daughters of , the pio-: neers was held at the home of Mrs. Bessie Thorn at Springville, April 12. Captain Martha Houtz was in charge. There was singing, "Our Mountain Home So Dear," prayer, by the chaplain; singing, "O My Utah"; and a discussion of the. early fire departments . and fires by some of the members. After which the following program pro-gram was given in honor of Mrs. Louisa Johnson, featuring some of her original poems: vocal solo, Mozelle Whitney; history of Mrs, Johnson was read by her granddaughter grand-daughter Bessie Thorn; poems were read by Anna Johnson, Ella. Johnson, and Sadie Whiting; two of her poems were set to music, and were sung by Lillian Snow, and a duet by Donna and Mozelle. Whitney; piano solo, Ruth Whit- ney; reading by little Merilyn Whitney ;story, "Pioneer Brides, '.' bv Hattie Jensen; and the closing song was by Donna Whitney; and then a luncheon was served by the hostesses Claudia Whitney and Mrs. Thorn to twenty-four members mem-bers and five guests. Senate Men-denhall Men-denhall was chorister and Claudia, Whitney accompanist. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada are spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jensen. Mrs. Clara Larson, returned to her home in Mt. Pleasant Sunday after spending the week with her mother, Mrs. Lillian Snow. Morris Bird is convalescing at a hospital in Salt Lake after an operation for appencitis last week. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Larson are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby gii"l born at their home. Mother and babe are doing very fine now. Mrs. Larson was formerly former-ly Miss Rae Cazier . Joe Carnesecca was pleasantly surprised at his home last week. Games were played and a luncheon lunch-eon was served to the following: Irene Bird, Billie Medved, Genevieve Gene-vieve Bird, Johnny Bleggi, Virginia Vir-ginia Bird, Mack Holley, Edna Wiscombe, Ted Dibble, Beulah Whiting, Carol Allen, Blaine Harmer, Har-mer, Lena Carnesecca, Rosie Bleggie, Niel Everett, Tony Medved, Med-ved, June Whiting, Norma Bird, Fern Jensen, Kelscy Johnson, and the guest of honor. The marriage of Miss Lillian Bird, daughter of Mr. Elmer Bird, and Leo Crandall, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Crandall of Springville, Spring-ville, was solemnized in the Salt Lake temple Wednesday. They will make their home in Springville. An enjoyable party was held at the home of Miss Ruth Wiscombe, in honor of Miss Louise Plumlee,, the occasion being her birthday. "500" was played during the evening, eve-ning, with a tasty luncheon being served at eleven o'clock. The guests were the following: Muriel Jensen, LaRee Perry, Grace Holley, Irene Jensen, Wilma Whiting, Whit-ing, the guest of honor and the, hostess. Miss Fay Faucett of Sanford, Colorado, who has been attending attend-ing the L. D. S. Business College at Salt Lake spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Miss Gwedolyn Cornum at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.alph Reed. She will return to Colorado on Saturday. |
