Apostle Richard R. Lyman of the Council of the Twelve represented the general church authorities at each of the meetings. President J. Emmett Bird, presided. The opening session Saturday evening -was devoted to priesthood priest-hood quorum problems with Apostle Lyman as the principal speaker. "The Value of Early Spiritual Training" with special emphasis on prayer was taken up by Apostle Lyman at the Sunday forenoon meeting. Other speakers included A. YV. Harmer of the stake presidency, presi-dency, Superintendent Wm. T. Tew of the seminary, and Superintendent Superin-tendent Floyd Miner of the M. I. A. The Second ward choir furnished music under the direction of Ray Alleman, and Elmo Coffman gave a vocal solo. Missionaries who recently returned re-turned from missions, each gave splendid talks at the afternoon general session. . They were Dix Jones of the German-Austrian mission; Evon Averett from the Southern states; Rapheal Palfrey-man Palfrey-man from the British mission and Leo Crandall from the Northwestern North-western states. i Apostle Lyman discussed various var-ious phases of the theme, "It is More Blessed to Give Than to Receive," at the afternoon meeting. meet-ing. In addition, a splendid and especially interesting talk on "Courtship," by Apostle Lyman was given and Harrison R. Merrill, editor of the Improvement Improve-ment Era, also spoke briefly. |
