Show High School News Items BY CLARA HAKMEK The band, orchestra, instrumental instru-mental and vocal so'oistti and quartets wil lenter the contest at Price this week-end. Last week the hand, orchestra, girls and boys glee clubs, mixed quartet, girl3 trio and string quartet, quar-tet, and 11 soloists won first place at the Invitational Meet at 1'rovo. Those who received awards at the State Junior Livestock Show at Spanish Fcrk are: Jim Diamond won championship of the Aberdeen Aber-deen An..is clss; Be van Lindsey won first in cross bred i-isa; Ted Clark, first in Aberdeen Angus class over 10 months. Those- who won awards in the puro-bred Hen-fords Hen-fords class under 10 months are: Kenneth Miner, second: Larry Bird, fourth; Keith B..y., filth: pure bred Shothorn: Hugh LJjorth. second; Aberdeen Angus under 10 months: Jim Diamond, first, Rowe Clark, sixth. Aberdeen Angus over 10 months: Tesd Clark, first; and Harold Harmer, second. Crossbred Cross-bred class under 10 months: Bevan Lindsey, first. Cross-bred class 10 to 14 months: Elmo Jensen, pec-ond; pec-ond; Cross-bred over 14 months: Howard Hutchings, third. The judging team from Springville Spring-ville who attended the show were Leslie Beardall, Elmo Jensen, Frank Carnesecca, Stanley Bird, Kenneth Miner, Bliss Packard, Lawrence Bird, Earl Mendenhall and Merrill Binks. Last fall the council appropriated appropriat-ed money for flowers on the front lawn. This spring we are being fully repaid in the beauty of these flowers which make the surrounding, surround-ing, during the art month, more attractive. The nominations for next year's school officers wil Itake place at an assembly Thursday. The nominations nomin-ations will be for mayor, juTlge, secrtary, and council members from both the junior and senior high schools. |
