Show OFFICER FOUND IN PLANE LEAP KINGMAN, Ariz., July 16 (U.R) Maj. Gen. George E. Leach, national na-tional commander of the national guard, was found early today uy a sheepherder and brought here after he had been lost for four hours in the desert. Enroute to California, Gen. Leach jumped from a burning airplane air-plane piloted by Capt. Charles M. Cummings of Washington,' D. C. Cummings stayed with the plane and landed it here safely. Gen. Leach said he was carried along for several miles by a strong desert wind before coming down on the ground of the Jack Trembec ranch near. Seligman, Ariz. He walked for five miles over the desert before encountering W. C. Benny, the sheepherder, who led him to Kingman. He was on his way to Santa Maria, Cal., to review maneuvers of guar dunits from California, Nevada and Utah when the plane burst into flames while flying at 10,000 feet. |
