Show REUNIONS SCHEDULED AND HELD Arrangements are complete for the annual Crandall family reunion to be held July 20 and 21 at Balsam park, Hobble Creek canyon, committee chairman announce. an-nounce. This family, the original members of which were among the earliest settlers in the community, is one of the largest families in the vicinity, and the reunion will include a large number from this city as well as many throughout the state and elsewhere. It has been arranged to have a truck leave the city park at 9 a. m. each day to accommodate relatives who have no means of transportation. Vern Crandall and Carlisle Crandall are in charge of this phase, of the reunion and all desiring transportation should communicate with them. A full two days entertainment is arranged with sports and other activities ac-tivities for both old and young. A number of prizes will be given away during races, contests, etc. An excellent program is scheduled at 8 p. m. Saturday, with Sunday school and a business announced for Sunday forenoon. The annual reunion of rescend-ants rescend-ants of William and Sarah Lovell Mendanhall concluded Sunday after aft-er three days social entertainment at Kelley's Grove, Hobble Creek . canyon. Approximately 150 rela- tives attended from all part of the state and as far as Alberta, Canada. A bonfire program and weiner roast for the children, Friday night marked the opening of the entertainment. On Saturday the customary ball games and other sports were enjoyed, and in the evening a program featuring the history of early members of the family was presented. Sunday school was held Sunday morning at a business meeting. Committee chairmen for the coming year were named. Bayard Mendenhall of Salt Lake City was selected as chairman with Chester Johnson, Barney Mendenhall, Miss Beth Jex, Salt Lake City and Wendell Mendenhall Men-denhall of Ogden as assistants. Approximately 250 relatives from all parts of Utah attended the annual reunion of descendants of Jeathen and Jane Farnsworth Averett, at Balsam Park, Saturday Satur-day and Sunday. A general handshake hand-shake and social featured the opening open-ing day's entertainment followed with games and other sports. In the evening a bon-fire program pro-gram was presented with stunts, musical numbers, readings, and the portrayal in costume of some of the original family members, furnished much attention. Dancing also was enjoyed. The three surviving brothers John, Hardy and George Averett were made honorary members of the family presidency at an organization or-ganization meeting, Sunday forenoon. fore-noon. La Von Averett was named chairman of the reunion for the coming year. A number of relatives from Springville attended the annual Hales family reunion at Geneva resort, Saturday. Programs, picnic lunches, games and other sports featured the entertainment. Descendants of Edward and Nancy Hull will hold a family reunion re-union at Balsam Park, in. Hobble Creek canyon, Springville, August 3rd and 4th. Reservation of the place has been made and a full attendance at-tendance will be appreciated. Each family will bring bedding and lunch and be responsible for a number on the program so far as possible. Come out and let's get acquainted and enjoy ourselves as we used to years past. i |
