Complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Thompson who were recently re-cently wed, Mr. and Mrs. Wood-row Wood-row Thompson entertained at a dinner at their home 'here Monday evening. Covers were arranged for the following: Mrs. Sarah Thompson, Mrs. Charles F. Thompson Thomp-son Mrs. LeRoy Mathews and children of Evans'ton, Wyo., Mfss Loree Davis and Miss Blodwyn Thompson. Gleaner girls of the First ward under the leadership of Mrs. Naomi Beardall, were delightfully; entertained at the home of Misses Margaret and Naomi Pierce. The program featured a review of tne play, "The Infante," by Miss Dama Grant and several vocal selections by Miss Lucille Adams. Refreshments were served to the following guests and members: Miss Giant, Miss Adams, Miss Ruth Scoville, Miss Grace Holley, Miss Pauline Clyde, Miss Zelma Thorpe, Mrs. LaVera Curtis, Mrs. Louise Pierce, Miss Margaret Chirds, Miss Louise Childs, Miss Carol Allen, Miss Verlaine Beard-all, Beard-all, Miss Mary Huntington, Miss Lucille Walker, Miss Margaret Benson, Mrs. Beardall and Misses Naomi and Margaret Pierce. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bird and daughter Clara; Mr. and Mrs. Will Brown and daughter Wilna, were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bird and family at Midvaie. Members of the Te-Te-Eka 4-H club were delightfully entertained with a canyon party and weinie roast at Kelley's Grove, Hobble Creek canyon last Thursday eve-ning. eve-ning. In attendance were Mrs. Frank Stebbins, leader, and the following members: LaRhea Niel-son, Niel-son, PhyiTTs Boyer, Beth Stebbins, Evelyn Harrison, Valena Jones. ' A number of friends surprised Phyllis Boyer at her home oirFri-day oirFri-day night, the occasion being her birthday. Games and a tasty lunch were features with the following in attendance, Phyllis Boyer, La L'elle Bramall, Fern Simkins, Earl Nielson, Frances Tuttle, Bob Burt, Helen Dunn, LaMar Boyer, Marjorie Mar-jorie Whiting, Randall Sumsion, Virginia Bird, Howard Brinton, LaRhea Nielson, Clyde Stone. One of the most successful and altogether lovely parties of the past week was that given by the Novelty Circle and Boosters' club, social units of the high school, Saturday night. The affair was given in the form of a dance and luncheon on the Utah lake show boat. Appi'oximately 70 young people attended including members mem-bers of both social units and their partners. Miss Ferl Nielson attended at-tended as special guest and chap-erone. chap-erone. A beautiful color scheme in orange and green was carried out in the entertaining apartments of the boat while refreshments also suggested the same color motif. General chairman of the entertainment were President Fern Simkins of the Boosters' club, and Marjorie Child of the Novelty Circle. The decoration committee was composed of La Jeune Whitney, Merle Fletcher, Yvonne Child, Frances Tuttle and in charge of refreshments were Elaine Brockbank and Phyllis Smart. A very delightful evening was spent by neighbors and friends at the 'home of Mr. and Mrs. P.W. Crandall, when they entertained in the form of a lawn party honoring hon-oring their daughter, Mrs. Blanch C. Wright and little daughter, Marlene, who are spending a few weeks' vacation here. Games and an impromptu program were delightful de-lightful features of entertainment concluded with refreshments. In attendance were about 24 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Robinson and son Lee of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Hattie Robinson of San Bernardino, Cal., are spending their vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Ford Burt and family here. The latter Mrs. Robinson, mother of Mrs. Burt, plans an extended visit in this city. been undergoing treatment lor a major ailment. Mr. and Mis. Ami Oakley of this city returned recently from an extended trip to California. They went especially to attend funeral services for Mrs. Birdie Oakley Lee at Los Angeles, Calif. In honor of her little son Le-land Le-land who was four years old Wednesday, Mrs. Gregg Crandall entertained a group of smau friends at their home in the afternoon. aft-ernoon. Games on the lawn and refreshments were enjoyed. Accompanying Attorney Arnold C. Roylance on his recent return trom San Francisco, Calif., where he underwent a recent operation with a hope of regaining the sight m one eye, were his mother, Mrs. Austin Roylance, a brother Fred and niece Miss Barbara Kelly. Also a sister, Mrs. Melba Scal-manini Scal-manini of San Francisco, who will spend about two weeks with her parents and other relatives and Inends here. Mrs. Leona Dalby of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Harold Johnson and Mrs. . Will Browa were guests of Mrs. Frank Salisbury and other friends in Salt Lake City over the week end. Complimentary to her husband whose birthday was Wednesday, Mrs. Has Carter entertained a croup of relatives and friends at Balsora Park in Hobble Creek canyon in the evening. Music and games were features and a delicious de-licious chicken supper was served to about 30 guests. Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Miner and Mrs. Frank Jensen Wednesday accompanied accom-panied Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wright of Salt Lake City to the Logan temple, where they had a temple marriage. Mrs. Wright was the former Marian Miner. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Parker ana. son of Tacoma, Wash., are spending a short vacation with relatives and friends here and in Salt Lake City. Miss Naomi Deal of Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif., is visiting friends in Springville. In her honor several sev-eral functions 'have been given the past week. Among the many Springville people who "visited in Ogden the past week, attending the Pioneer days celebration, were Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Johnson and Mrs. Sadie Packard. Liuutenant and Mrs. Dallin Soulhworth of Durango, Cold., spent a few days of the past week with friends and relaJLves in Springville. Mr. and Mis. J. X. Gardner and son Dougall X., and Mr. and Mrs, G. S. Wood spent two days of the past week, including the July 24 holidays in canyons of southern Utah.
